This is a great way to spend an afternoon with your grandchild. Mine are 11 and 8, and loved it, but definitely need help to follow the directions to make the maze work properly. It is time consuming but great fun, but a little disappointing that it was as complicated as it was. And these kids are creative and builders. But I would recommend it anyway because it was a great way to spend quality time with them.

My son, who is 8, had great fun playing with this once my husband and I were able to build. My son tried building on his own but the directions were confusing for him and even for me. My husband with assistance from me were able to build in about 30 minutes and kids played with it for nearly an hour.

Some what difficult to assemble. When assembled it was easily knocked over and then breaks apart. It's time consuming and confusing to assemble, so fixing again and again is frustrating. When is was staying upright and assembled the kids enjoyed it. We bought this for Christmas and will have to return it.

I bought these for my 10 year old daughter. She loves them. She had it put together in no time and has had hours of fun building playing and rebuilding. I love how it allows for creativity while also making you think to build the different mazes. My older boys one in high school and the other in college also have enjoyed playing with it.

I purchased this for my son who has Autism for Christmas. Initially, it was extremely difficult to figure out. It would be helpful for a video to be posted on how to put it together or even just get started... I had to try numerous times to figure it out. Although once figured out, it worked well. I did run into the fact that I was missing a clear piece based on the directions so I had to use a green piece. Directions do not state how much of each color there should be in the box. You have to trust that they are complete. I do like it, just a bit tricky. My son enjoys it and I like that you can download more runs. He doesn't have the patience yet to put them together but I enjoy the challenge so I don't mind.

My daughter has had a Marble Works set, since she was 2, so I thought (now that she's 6) this would be a great set to add options and variety to the concept. I would say that unless you have an uncharacteristically patient 6-yr old, this set is definitely a "Use-with-parent-or-older-sibling-toy". Unlike most Marble Works sets, there are no bases in which to place the pieces (which also affects structure stability). This adds a degree of difficulty, because I think a child doesn't have the foundation of starting from a 'base' for what they build. In addition, the nature of the Q-BA-Maze is that you connect most pieces side-to-side, (not stacking quite as much) this was a bit much for my daughter's manual dexterity (granted I will say this was Christmas evening, so she may have been running low on 'resources' :-P ) Anyhow, I had to help her get the pieces put together. I decided to use the directions included for building the model that is pictured on the box front. Once built, I will say we found it pretty sweet!! Several cool things about Q-Ba-Maze is that each modular piece has a way of slowing marbles down to a degree so that there are never any 'log jams'. The marbles are great quality (steel bearings) so they are heavy given their size, and they NEVER get hung up in any of the maze's rigid plastic modular pieces. The tubes are cool too ( 1-2 marbles have hung up in the tube if it hangs too low), and the trampoline is awesome, because you can angle it any way you'd like. We have yet to try to make structure that deviates from the plans, but I would suggest building the model included, first. That helped me conceptualize 'how' to build with this toy, because it's not typical. Ultimately this toy gives you tons of options because each modular piece can lead in various directions. All included pieces are very high quality and will last long, I believe. I would say this would be great for 'natural' builders and 8 years old and up (or unless your kid has a dearth of fine motor skills and patience :-) But fun for parents also.

Our grandson has really enjoyed the QBAMAZE 20. After building the one included with the game, his grandfather printed out directions for other builds. They built 2 more and then our grandson began inventing his own. He is 8.

My grandchild is extremely into building things. He is six and a half years old. I usually buy things for him that are recommended for 8 year olds. This toy grabbed him. He does need help putting it together, but he also knew that it can be put together in different configurations to make the marbles come out in different ways. What made me feel really good was that my son-in-law asked me where in the world did I get it, because he can never find toys like it. I got my grandson's present from here last year too.

I purchased the Q Ba Maze sets for my husband. He enjoys building amazing marble runs. The entire family gets into the fun. Everyone is building and hoping their creation will be the best. We even download other designs from the MindWare site. After a few days the maze is disassembled and new one is built.
Some reviews find Q Ba Maze difficult for kids. We started using this product when my youngest was seven. Many 2nd-5th grader have built mazes at our home. They do not follow a direction set which has would be difficult for some of them, yet they come up with some great designs. The only drawback I see is that many times the base is not sturdy due to the design. We usually find spare parts, books, etc. to put under parts of the maze to keep it up-right.
We would love more maze designs included. This is an expensive product and a few more could be included for the price.

My son picked this out for Christmas so who could say no. It took 1 kid, 2 adults, and over 2 hours to get it together and it kept falling apart. There is no way a 7 year old could figure out these directions and successfully put it together. There are only plans for 1 configuration, the rest are on line which is a downer. We knew it would be a challenge but it turned out to be hard. I would have bought the easier Marble Run which would probably have been much more fun.

The idea behind this is good but the construction pieces only allow for limited creativity in height. My biggest criticism is the price - too expensive for the NUMBER OF PLASTIC pieces included. I had read this before I ordered but decided to try it. I would think twice now.

Really fun toy. Would recommend. Cons are hard to assemble (package says 6 but it's probably more like 12 yrs to be able to assemble). And falls apart easily (lots if reassembly needed).

This was a big hit and was put into use as soon as present opening was complete. It was somewhat challenging , which is a good thing. He can't wait to get more supplement sets for his March birthday.

It is very hard to put together and stay together- I have two kids (5,10) that love to build and this was nothing but a frustration for them both. It topples over very easily and you need about 3 sets of hands to get it to build it. Do not recommend!

Christmas present for my 10 year old daughter. Amazing toy! Entertaining for the whole family. She built the whole thing by herself Christmas morning. I've read reviews from other parents saying it was too hard to understand the directions....she didn't have any problems. Encourages creativity and thinking outside the box. Great gift!

Difficult to put together. We had the Discovery Toys set and loved it, and expected this to be just as much fun. It's impossible to figure out the directions and pretty hard to make your own design. Overpriced too, for this single mom's budget. Wish I could get my money back.

We love this product! My 5 year old daughter and 6 year old nephew spend hours building and rebuilding new runs! The whole family enjoys the marble races! All they really don't have is a catch for the bottom.... Marbles do roll everywhere.... We just put the towers on TV trays to catch them. Fabulous product! Two thumbs way up!

I bought this for my 7 year old son who LOVES building things and is a whiz with Legos and other building sets. Between him, me, and our 15 year old neighbor, we still haven't gotten this set put together yet. We get a little bit done and then it falls apart. We tried ignoring the directions and just building our own set and had a hard time getting anything to stand up on it's own. It think a few additional support pieces would be helpful. We were really excited about this set but it has done nothing but disappoint.

I know that this set is rated for ages 6 and up, and my granddaughter is just 6, and I never would expect her to build the entire maze. HOWEVER, 3 adults in the family followed the directions to a 'T' and all got hung up at the same spot and quit. If 3 adults can't do it, how is a child at age 8 or 10 or 12 or up going to build the maze as directed? It is fun to put together and create ones own maze, though a little tricky, but I could have gotten a smaller set for that and not had the expense of the Stunt Set that no adults can put together!!!

Our 10 yr. old grand-daughter requested this for her B- day. She raves about it as well as her 8 yr old brother. We have not seen it in action yet.. but if they are happy, so are we!!!
