Not what I was hoping for. There was a ton of parent support needed to make sure measurements were exact. Not enough glue (Elmer's didn't keep the parts together, btw). We bought three hoping that our sons would play against each other, but only one got built properly. definitely for kids over 7.

This is a great toy, although putting it together was the fun part. It gets used only a little since then. Probably for the best because we parents would no doubt be getting things flung at our heads if our son had maintained interest!

Gluing the structure doesn't withstand the stress of the rubber band tension. It broke after 2 shots. It isn't something that a child can put together or even heavily participate in putting together. That was disappointing.

My 9 year old son was so excited to receive the Catapult for Christmas. He built it right away all by himself. He is having quite the time experimenting with the distance things will fly.

This was intended to be something that my son could assemble (with help from his father) and also enjoy later. The project was complex enough (lots of careful placement of pieces and then holding them in place while glue dries) that my husband ended up building it alone. For the sake of context, my son assembles Lego projects for ages 8 and up unassisted and enjoys them. Then, once the catapult had been assembled (and dried overnight!) my son was able to use it briefly but the washers keep falling off and several pieces have broken away and had to be re-glued. The repairs are always easy and the catapult still works, but it has not been great for any type of sustained play since after a few 'shots' it seems to need a tune-up. In the end, it was neither a good craft/model project nor a good toy after building.

My Grandson and I are having great fun with the catapult. It was easy to assemble and was a good lesson in measuring and following directions. We build fortresses with the extra planks and knock them down. We talk about what makes a good projectile, angle of flight, and who aims better. Thank you.

Our nine year old grandchild had a wonderful time assembling the catapult. He did it fairly quickly. It operated well, but with the help of 3 younger siblings it broke pretty quickly. This was not a bad thing...it made our grandson use creative thinking to fix it...which he did in a number of clever ways. He had many hours fixing, shooting, and fixing again.

Great for the kids to put together but the product didn't hold up while trying to use. The wood has cracked/broken in different place after each of the first 2 uses.

This is fun, but please note that you have to build it and let the glue dry for 24 hours before you can use it. The wooden rods to hold the rubber bands are weak and snapped after a few shots. We replaced them with metal rods. Otherwise, a fun project to build and a fun way to learn physics.

The holes were not drilled properly in the wood parts of the catapult. It now sits apart, until we can find drill the holes that should have been there. What a drag.

I bought this for my son, knowing that it would be a good project for us to do together. We had an enjoyable time constructing it, but once we got to the point of him actually using the catapult, some faults came out. The first time he used it the bottom support beams in the back fell off. We re-glued them, waited a day, then tried again. And again the beams fell off. There is just not enough surface contact for the glue to hold between the flat support pieces and the vertical beams. I ended yup having to add some small nails to get the beams to stay together. After I did that it worked fine.My(10year old) son likes the toy and has fun launching things at the target. I just think Mindware should modify the design a bit to be more solid on the bottom.

a great toy, however, all some children (7+) will need assistance assembling this device. Pieces should have measurement marks to assist in accuracy. The paper ruler is not the best way to include a measurement tool.

This toy is delayed gratification. My 5 year old loved building with his dad, but hated waiting 12-24 hours for the glue to dry. It did come apart once, but after regluing (and another 12 hours) we are back in business launching things.

Wish it was put together with something other than glue, we have had to fix it too many times. And we replaced the main axis with a bolt once it cracked. But when it stays together it is really fun.

This is the only item from Mindware that I've had issues with. It falls apart. I cannot find a glue to hold it together.

The idea is great; however, the glue would not hold it. I've tried even hot glue. The pieces just won't stay together. It falls apart every time we try to use it. Very disappointing.
