The kit comes with many pieces and a booklet that gives directions on how to use each tool, the purpose of it, and scenarios on when it would be used. My daughter (10) loves it!

My 8 yr old daughter received this gift for Christmas and was ecstatic to open it. She had been pining over this kit for a while ever since she saw it in the Mindware catalog. It did not disappoint. She has leaped into a world of imagination where she is the detective in charge. She plays the part well and becomes a whole different person when taking friends and family members' fingerprints and so on.
The only thing that would make this kit better is if it came in a plastic carrying case versus her having to open up the box ...it might be time to visit the thrift store in search of her own briefcase.

My granddaugter was so excited to get this kit. When she got home and opened it, the directions pamphlet was missing! Not sure if they have contacted you about it yet. She won't be able to start the experiments until she has the directions.

My child was excited and enamored for about 2 days. Loved taking fingerprints! However the book and instruction guide were a bit long and involved. She has lost interest, and moved on without really 'using' the kit. Maybe better for age 9-10? My child is 8, but does read on a 9-10 yr level, I think if just became 'complicated' and she got bored. Maybe it will get pulled back out again in a few months.... I suspect so!

My 10 year old granddaughter has been having a great time with this item. We went so far as to create a murder scene in one of our bedrooms using an old doll and a rubber knife from an old Freddy Kruger costume. She spent hours collecting evidence and eventually solved the case.

The kit is fabulous in terms of having all the basics a true detective should have. The only thing missing - which disappointed my 9 year old daughter - was some sort of mystery to solve. Not sure how you can remedy the situation, but it would made the kit a perfect 10!

Lame bunch of cheap cardstock and tools. My daughter was over this in about 120 minutes. There is no crime scene to set up for the kids to solve so there's not much to do for them on their own.

Are you kidding me, my Grandson (8yrs.), his sister and their 2 boy cousins. Set up a crime scene at the back of my Daughter's property. My Daughter said she they were back there at least 2 hrs. (she can see them from her deck). They came back with an animal skull, spine of a deer and a few bugs. My Grandson love the show Bones and he know that bugs can tell you a lot about the scene. The best item we ever bought him for Christmas. BEYOND 5 STARS!!!!!

It is a lot of junk for a lot of money, The black light pen doesn't work and my grandson was totally disappointed with the set, just not what we expected,

You show a tool kit. There is no container as you illustrate. The contents are cardboard mostly. Good experiments, but the kit of materials is not very good.

I was a little concerned about this kit, because it's expensive compared to other 'detective' kits. Now that I've seen how much is in it, I don't question the price at all. There are several materials and lots of projects - so many that we haven't had a chance to do much with it yet.
