My children called this their "favorite" holiday gift. They immediately started digging on Christmas Day and didn't want to stop to go to Grandmas house to open more gifts! They loved using the tools, and there was dust all over our table & floor (easy cleanup). My children take breaks from it for a few days but keep going back to it. Fun exploratory toy. We have 3 children ages 6, 8, & 14. They all love it. I recommend for 6+ but not under.

My daughter loved using different tools to excavate the dinosaur. This was a wonderful learning activity and talking point that lead to discussions about different career paths. My only complaint is that the final product was unusable. The legs and tail detached from the dinosaur upon removal so we were unable to display it.

It doesn't last as long for the serious archeologist. They can dig through the layers quickly because they flake up in chunks. But still a great entertainer!

My grandchild is so excited about 'digging' for fossils! She even invited me to pull up a chair and watch her dig. She wore her safety goggles and looked like a real paleontologist. What fun!!

A great concept but the excavation is tedious. The tools aren't up to the job, as the clay that the bones are in is very hard - more than the hammer and 'chisel' can really handle. 9-yr old lost interest due to difficulty in making any progress.
