Road Trip Boredom Buster

Okay so these are great for kids, but if you're an adult these are pretty fun too! We maybe played a few after our kids went to bed! It's a great and simple introduction to logic and reasoning, but definitely feels more like a game or puzzle. These are GREAT for long car rides because kids are quiet while they solve it! We will definitely be purchasing the more challenging levels.

I love all MindWare Perplexors but wish there were several versions of each at the expert level. I am a senior citizen that likes to challenge what little brain I have left.

3 errors in first 8 puzzles

Puzzle 2: the items are watermelons - what are "widget" sales?
Puzzle 7: 100 sold in description but 10 listed on the chart.
Puzzle 8: This is completely different from the answer key.
I bought these to use with gifted second graders and have only looked at the first 9 puzzles. But 3 mistakes already?
This make me very skeptical regarding the accuracy of rest of the puzzles.

Overall, I like this book. The puzzles are challenging enough to not be boring, but not too hard to be frustrating, except for one of them. Number 21 doesn't have enough information to be completed, as far as I know. I contacted Mindware, and I hope this can be resolved.

This was given to me, it is in fact too easy, I agree with the other reviewer that there should be an upper grade level or ability indicator.
Also, and more troubling, the third puzzle seems to have an error. There doesn't appear to be any clues to distinguish between the 11 & 13 year old, between the red & blue, the pink & purple, or 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 8, other than than once you know 3, you then know 6, and same for 4 & 8. This puzzle in the hands of a student would be very discouraging, even an "expert level" student.
I stopped solving them after number 3...1 & 2 were fine, if again, too easy.

There does seem to be a clue missing on the third one "I'm Digging It". I got to the same point you did and there's no way to find who is 11 or 13 or who has the pink/purple shovel.
Also agree this is too easy for adults, oh well.

We purchased all 6 of these for our 3 grandsons aged 7-11. They delved into them immediately and loved solving them. Each started with the appropriate grade level but also wanted to see the ones that came next. Their mother remembered doing similar activities in elementary school and so she wanted to do one too! These will provide hours of thoughtful fun for all of them.

In some ways, it is one step up from the Perplexor book which we also have. I do this with my son who is entering Kindergarten (but he is a bit advanced thanks to his brother who is going into 2nd grade) so I think this is great logic building practice. It is necessary to help read this to my son but he fills in the grids all by himself. For my older son, it is also good additional reading practice.

I think these are great. If I catch him in the right mood, my six-and-a-half year old agrees. As a first grader, his homework is often pretty redundant; his teacher has agreed that we can sometimes substitute a Perplexor in place of the assignment. We also take these when we travel, as a substitute assignment. We use an overhead sheet with a dry erase marker over the page, so each page can be used again.
